18Now, thus was the birth of Jesus Christ:

His mother Mary, being engaged to Joseph, was found pregnant from the holy spirit before they were united {in marriage}.19Moreover, Joseph, her fiancé, being righteous and unwilling to have her humiliated, purposed to let her go secretly, 20but while these things of his were being thought through, a messenger of the Master appeared to him in a dream, saying: "Joseph, son of David, you shouldn't be frightened to wed Mary your fiancée, for holy is the one being conceived in her from the spirit.21Moreover, she will give birth to a son and you will call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."22Now this whole thing came about that what was uttered by the Master though the prophet may be fulfilled, saying: 23"Look! The virgin will be pregnant and she will give birth to a son, and they will call his name Emmanuel." (Which, translated, is: with us is God) {Isaiah 7:14}. 24So Joseph, awakened from the sleep, did as the messenger of the Master directed him, and wedded his fiancée, 25and was not intimate with her until she gave birth to her (firstborn*) son. And so, he called his name Jesus.

1Now, as Jesus had been born in the days of Herod, in Bethlehem of Judea, behold! Magi {ancient courtier priests of the occult science} from further east arrived into Jerusalem, 2saying: "Where is the one born king of the Judeans? For we caught sight of his star in the daybreak and we came to prostrate ourselves to him." 3But hearing it, King Herod became agitated, and all Jerusalem with him, 4and having assembled all the Chief-priests and the scribes of the people, he inquired of them: "Where is the Anointed to be born?" 5So, these said to him: "In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus has it been written through the prophets: 6'And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means the least among the rulers of Judah, for out of you, will appear the ruling one, which will shepherd my people Israel {Micah 5:2}'''. 7Then Herod, secretly calling the magi, exacted of them the time of the star's lighting up, 8and sending them into Bethlehem, he said: "Ascertain thoroughly on your way about the infant, but if you would ever find him: report to me, that I too, going, may prostrate myself to him." 9So, having heard the king, these went about their way. And lo and behold! The star which they caught sight of in the daybreak went ahead of them, going until it stood up above to where the infant was, 10and catching sight of the star, they felt extremely joyous, 11and so, going into the abode, they caught sight of the infant with his mother Mary, and, abasing themselves, they prostrated themselves to him, and, having opened up they treasures, they presented to him gold, frankincense and myrrh offerings. 12Then, having been apprised in a dream not to turn back to Herod, they retreated into their country through another way.

13Moreover, whilst in their retreat, lo and behold! A messenger of the Master appeared to Joseph in a dream saying: "When you awake, take up the enfant and his mother, and escape to Egypt, and be you there until whenever I would tell you, for Herod is about to seek this enfant in order to destroy him." 14So, being awaken, he took up the infant and his mother at night, and retreated into Egypt, 15and he was there until the death of Herod, that may be fulfilled what had been uttered by the Master through the prophet, saying: "Out of Egypt, I called my son. {Hosea 11:1}" 16Then Herod, perceiving that he had been mocked by the magi, was very incensed and, commissioning, did away with all the boys from two years old and under that were in Bethlehem and in among its boundaries according to the time which he exacted of the magi. 17So was fulfilled what had been uttered [through / by] Jeremiah the prophet saying: 18"A voice is heard in Ramah, much wailing and lament. Ramah weeps her children and was not willing to be consoled because they are not." 19Moreover, whilst Herod was dying, lo and behold! A messenger of the Master lit up on Joseph in a dream in Egypt saying: 20"When you awake, take up the infant and his mother, and go your way into the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the soul of the infant have died." 21So, awaking, he took up the infant and his mother and [entered / went] into the land of Israel, 22but hearing that Archelaul reigned Judea instead of his father Herod, he was frighten to depart there, so, having been apprised in a dream, retreated into the parts of Galilee, 23and going, he settled into a city called Nazareth, that may be fulfilled what had been uttered through the prophets, that he will be called a Nazarene.

1Moreover, in those days, John the baptiser arrived in the desert of Judea proclaiming 2(and*) saying: "Repent, for the kingship of the heavens has neared." 3For this is the one uttered [through / by] the prophet Isaiah, saying: 'a voice of one crying out in the desert: 'make ready the way of the Master, make His path straight. {Isaiah 40:3}'' 4Moreover, this John had his outfit made from camel hair and a leather waistband around his loins; also his nourishment was of locusts and wild honey. 5Then Jerusalem, and all Judea, and the entire region around the Jordan went out to him, 6and they were baptised in the Jordan (river*) by him, owning up to their sins. 7But catching sight of many of the Pharisees (the separatists) and Sadducees (followers of Zadok the Just) appearing at his baptism, he said to them: "Offspring of vermin, who indicated to you to escape from the intended ignition? 8Produce therefore fruit worthy of repentance. 9You shouldn't suppose to say among yourselves: 'a father we have: Abraham!' for I say to you that God is of power to rouse children to Abraham out of these stones. 10(And*) moreover, the axe is already placed toward the root of the trees; Therefore every tree not producing fine fruit is cut out and tossed into the fire. 11I indeed am baptising you in water unto repentance, but the one coming behind me is stronger than me, whose sandals I am not enough to carry. He will baptise you in holy spirit (and fire*), 12and he, whose fork is in his hand, will purge his threshing floor, and will assemble his grain into the barn, but the chaff he will burn down by an inextinguishable fire."

13Then Jesus arrived over the Jordan from Galilee, toward John of the Jordan, to be baptised by him. 14But John disallowed him saying: "I have need to be baptised by you! And you're coming to me?" 15But Jesus answering said to him: "Leave it for now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfil all justice." Then he left him. 16So Jesus, being baptised, came up straight from the water and look! The heavens were opened up (to him*) and he caught sight of the spirit of God descending as if a dove and going upon him, 17and lo! A voice out of the heavens saying: "This is my son, the beloved, of whom I have approved.

1Then Jesus was led up into the desert by the spirit to be tried by the Devil 2and, fasting forty days and forty nights, he eventually hungered, 3and the one trying [him/] said [/to him]: "If son of God you are, say you, that these stones may come to be bread loaves." 4So, answering, he said: "It has been written: 'man will leave, not on bread alone, but on every utterance coming out through God's month! {Deuteronomy 8:3}'" 5Then the Devil took him in into the holy city and stood him on the wing of the sacred place, 6and said to him: "If son of God you are, throw yourself down, for it has been written that His messengers will be mandated about you, and they will take you up in their hands, thereby you would not thrust your foot toward a stone. {Psalms 91:11,12}" 7Jesus spoke out to him: "Again, it has been written: 'you will not try God your Master out! {Deuteronomy 6:16}" 8Again, the Devil took him in into a very high mountain and showed him all the kingships of man's world and their glory, 9and he said to him: "To you, I will give all these if ever, falling, you should prostrate yourself to me." 10Then Jesus said to him: "Get off, Satan, for it as been written: 'you will prostrate yourself to God your Master, and you will offer service to Him only. {Deuteronomy 6:13}'" 11Then the Devil let him go, and lo and behold! Messengers approached and attended to him.
