--- 1 --- 1Just as much as many have taken upon themselves to put together the story of the things that happened to us, just like those who witnessed and served the Spokesman straight from the start passed it on to us, it seemed a good idea to me too, Great Theophilus, since I researched everything very carefully, to write it to you in the right order. That way, you may recognise that the information you have heard is true. (Luke 1:1-2) 5When Herod was King of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah (he worked in Abijah's shift), and his wife Elizabeth was a descendant of Aaron. Now, they were both good in God's eyes, living a blameless life, keeping all of Master's commandments and all His good guidance, but they had no children since Elizabeth couldn't have any. Besides, they were getting old. (Luke 1:5-7) 8Now it happened, since he went along his shift as priest of God, that after drawing the lot (as priests do), he went into Master's temple to burn an incense offering, and outside, when it was time to offer the incense, all the people, in great number, were praying. Moreover, Master's messenger became visible to him, standing from out of the right side of the incense altar. So when he saw this, Zechariah was shaken and became fearful. But, the messenger said to him: "Don't be frightened Zechariah, for your petition was looked into, and your wife Elizabeth will give you a son, and John is what you will call him, and for you, there will joy and extreme happiness, and his birth will make many people rejoice because Master will consider him great, and he will be filled with Holy Spirit while still in his mother's womb. However, he shouldn't drink wine or alcohol at all. Also, he will return many of the children of Israel to Master, their God, in front of whom, he will go right ahead with Elijah's spirit and power, to return to children their parents' hearts, to return those who don't believe to the thoughtfulness of those who are righteous, and to equip people to ready them for Master." And Zechariah said to the angel: "What will make me know this? Because I'm old now, and my wife is advanced in years." And the angel answered: "I am Gabriel, the one standing in front of God, and I was sent to you to announce these good messages. And look! You will be mute, unable to speak, until that day comes when these things happen, because you did not believe my words, which will come true on time." (Luke 1:8-20) 21Now the people were waiting Zechariah's return, and were wondering at his delay inside the temple, but when he came out, he couldn't speak, so he gestured to them, and they understood that he had seen a vision in the temple. He then remained mute, and since his ministry was finished, he returned home. So, after these days, his wife Elizabeth got pregnant, and hid herself five months, saying "That's how Master has planned when He considered removing the disrepute I had with people". (Luke 1:21-25) 26Now in her sixth month, The angel Gabri'el was sent from God to Nazareth, a city of Galilee, to Mary, a virgin engaged to Joseph, a descendant of David. Coming in then where she was, the angel said: "Have joy, Mercy-have, Master is on your side, most blessed of all women". But, seeing that, she was taken aback by these words, and was wandering what sort of 'hello' this might be. And the angel said to her: "Do not fear Mariam, for you have found mercy with God and look! you will get pregnant, and give birth to a son, and name him Jesus. He'll have greatness, and he will be called Son of the Most High, and Master God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the descendents of Jacob forever, and there shall be no end of his kingship". But Mary said to the angel: "How will that happen, since there is no man I have sex with?" So the angel answered: 'Holy Spirit will fall upon you, and power from the Most High will overshadow you, that's why the one born holy will be called God's son. And look: Elizabeth your kindred is pregnant though she's old, and she's in her sixth month, the one people called sterile, because no word with God will prove undoable.' So Mary said: 'Look, I am the Master's servant girl. Let it happen to me just as you said'. And the angel left her. (Luke 1:26-38) 39Around that time, then, Marie rose, and went in a hurry to a town of Judah, in the mountains, and she came inside Zechariah's house and said hello to Elizabeth. And it happened that as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, that the baby in her leaped, and then she was filled of holy Spirit, and she cried loudly: "You are blessed among women, and your child is blessed too!! And who am I that that my Sovereign's mother would come to me? For look! As soon as my ears heard your greeting, the baby bounced for joy in my womb. Happy are you since you believed, because what Master said to you will surely happen." (Luke 1:39-45) 46Now, Mary said: "My soul glorifies Master, 47and my spirit greatly rejoice over God my Saviour 48because He looked upon the lowliness of His servant girl, for look: from now on, all generations will consider me as fully happy 49because the Powerful One designed great things for me, and holy is His name, 50and His mercy to those who fear Him is for all generations.(Luke 1:46-50)
