Perez then fathered Hezron, who then fathered Aram, ⁴who then fathered Aminidab, who then fathered Nahshon, who then fathered Salmon, ⁵who then fathered Boaz from Rahab. Boaz then fathered Obed from Ruth. Obed then fathered Jesse, ^6awho then fathered David the king.

¹⁷Therefore, the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen, and from David to the resettlement of Babylon fourteen, and from the resettlement of Babylon to the Anointed, fourteen.
