THE SYLVANUS BIBLE

ENGAGED IN TRANSLATION

BACK

Why should a copyright be needed ?

You may copy and/or reproduce any part of the text of the Sylvanus Bible:

Anybody has the right to quote any part of the Sylvanus Bible for any reason, otherwise I might as well not produce one.

 with the limits -

a)- of no more than 10% of your finished work:

There are nonetheless some who would make a critic of it, with all the rights they have, and can quote from it up to 10% of their finished work without asking for permission. And that's fine, it's called fair use.

But I would think that if someone uses more than that, the content and intent of the work might well be worth my consideration. It is after all the very nature of the Sylvanus Bible to consider constructive criticism.

b)- of no consecutive chapters of the Sylvanus Bible or sections of the United Gospel quoted adjacently or in sequence:

Imagine a work of 60 pages. 10% of that is large enough to contain the whole book of Ephesians. This copyright prevents from quoting a whole book as either split up or not.

c)- of only part of a single chapter or section of the United Gospel:

Why not be able to quote at least a whole chapter or section?

There shouldn't be any need to do that. If there is, then it might be worth the reader to read it directly from the original production and see in its context, hence the need for the following clause:

d)- and of the (active) website link clearly being marked as '....... www.sylvanusbible.com©' directly showing and attached at the end of the quoted text:

It is the right and the joy of the translator to see some fruitage of his work, if God allows, and to refer interested readers to the context of the original production of the Translation, and it is quite fair that users of the provided free material themselves also refer back to it.
